Inspired Recipes – Get Creative!

When the spirit moves you in the kitchen, go for it. Basil with grapefruit. Apples and onions.    Sometimes experiments can lead to glorious discoveries!

A few months ago I posted a recipe for whole wheat pizza dough. I love this recipe because I’d been reading that you can’t make good pizza with using only whole wheat flour. Lots of sites poo pooed that idea saying that the crust would be too hard to work with or it wouldn’t taste the same without using some white flour.

The ubiquitious ‘they’ were right in some respects. Does whole wheat pizza flour taste exactly the same as white flour pizza dough? No, of course not. But is it magic in its own way? Oh yeah baby, and I dared you to try it.

Playing with new combinations of foods and flavors is among my favorite things. Tonight I discovered that by swapping out half of the whole wheat flour and using quinoa flour in it’s place creates another way that you can incorporate healthy alternatives in some of your favorite foods. What you’ll also find is that the quinoa flour adds a nutty flavor!
