I was so excited to get started on organizing the linen closet that I spent about 45 minutes this evening tackling steps #1 and #2 of my closet organization road map. (See Brownstone Stories – Closet Confessions, Part 1 for the background!) I am in no way done with this process, but I’ve decided to work on it little by little every night so the project is less overwhelming. Also, I believe this method will give me time to take items out of the closet and thoughtfully assign them to a new home (rather than just clearing out the closet and creating a new mess somewhere else!).

A big change was just folding the towels in a fashion that best fits the shelf. I also discarded expired medicines and consolidated make up and nail polish in a zippered plastic bag. There’s still much work to be done before it would pass Martha’s test, but I’m on my way to achieving my dream linen closet makeover! Stay tuned for more!
