It’s summertime and, like many of you, I get to dreaming about my perfect vacation home. Today, I have an idea for a living room that is fresh, casual, practical and youthful. I envision this room in a small Cape Cod by the beach or even a rustic cottage on a lake. Whatever it is, it has to be affordable and can never be predictable.
In my collage, I have included some grape wood branches for a centerpiece (which are easier to stand up than driftwood) from Nettleton Hollow. Unfussy matchstick roll up shades from Sears are the perfect window treatment. I’d eschew air conditioning and instead get funky ceiling fans from Lighting Universe. Of course, I’d need some art and a photograph of vintage station wagon with a surfboard is so cute from Cottage Lights Photography via Etsy! As always, a&o style requires a mix of old and new, so this refurbished vintage side table from Mint Home via Etsy does the trick. Nothing is easier to keep clean than white slipcovers (just throw them in the wash!), so this well made sofa from Room and Board is perfect complemented with pillow covers from AriannaBelle via Etsy. An indoor/outdoor rug that looks just like wool from West Elm feels great underfoot and is a breeze to clean. The Fin coffee table from CB2 has an industrial edge and is durable enough for resting tired feet!
What do you think about our choices for this room? What would a living room in your vacation home look like?
